چکیده

Neonatal sepsis is one of the most prevalent infections today, claiming lives almost million newborns in developing countries. Our objective to determine bacteria that cause Egyptian hospitals, as well discover their resistance profiles, allowing for selection appropriate drug combinations against multidrug resistant (MDR) bacteria. Nine hundred and eighty-nine blood samples were collected from neonates Al Demerdash Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital March 2019 20121 according standard protocols. Bacterial identification antimicrobial susceptibility test AST performed using VITEK® 2 system. The results revealed 51.4 % patients had positive cultures, with 60.3 females 39.7 %. Males. Sepsis late onset was detected 95% cases, while early observed only 5% total cases. According study, 98.3 Klebsiella Pneumoniae isolates Ampicillin, 91% Ampicillin/sulbactam, 90% Ceftazidime Cefotaxime. Quantitative Real-time RT-PCR analysis blaCTX-M-15 gene expression found (69%) MDR K. pneumoniae expressed at a significantly higher level than susceptible isolates, mean fold change 10.0349 versus 1.8646. In conclusion, leading neonatal majority hospitals' NICUs. Application infection prevention control strategies, conjunction stewardship programs, may be beneficial overcoming this challenge.

Evaluation and Identification of Carbapenem Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Hospitalized Patients in Qom City, (Iran)

Background and Objectives: Klebsiella pneumonia is a facultative anaerobe bacterium from enterobacteriaceae family, which causes a wide range of diseases, such as urinary tract infections, cystitis, pneumonia, surgical wounds infections, infectious endocarditis, and diffused infections, especially in patients with HIV infection and immunosuppression. The aim of this study was to identify carbap...

Molecular epidemiology and drug resistant mechanism in carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from pediatric patients in Shanghai, China

Infection by carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-KP) is a public health challenge worldwide, in particular among children, which was associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. There was limited data in pediatric populations, thus this study aimed to investigate molecular epidemiology and drug resistant mechanism of CR-KP strains from pediatric patients in Shanghai, China. A ...

Sepsis in neonates due to imipenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae producing NDM-1 in India.

Sir, Treatment of neonatal infections is becoming increasingly difficult due to multidrug-resistant organisms. Carbapenems are the last resort for the treatment of severe infections, however, the emergence of carbapenemases in Enterobacteriaceae has left the clinician cornered with very few options. Recently a new carbapenemase designated New Delhi metallo-blactamase (NDM-1) was identified in K...

Tigecycline Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Austrian River Water

Abstract: Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are spreading worldwide in medical settings but also in the environment. These resistant bacteria illustrate a major health problem in our times, and last-line antibiotics such as tigecycline represent an ultimate therapy option. Reports on tigecycline non-susceptible Enterobacteriaceae are presented with regard to medical settings but are rare with that ...

Dissemination of extensively drug-resistant and KPC-2 producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from bloodstream infections.

INTRODUCTION Bloodstream infections (BSIs) are serious diseases associated with high mortality, especially when caused by extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae. The prevalence and pandemic strains of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing K. pneumoniae isolated from blood cultures of patients with BSIs were determined at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, China. METHODOLOG...
